Week 6: Freeze Frame
Artists staying put
LOS ANGELES, CA Friday Nov.10.2006 /FantasyMusicLeague.com/ -- Week 6's eTracks have made it pretty clear that we're in a bit of a holding pattern.
Not a bad thing for artists like Evanescence, The Fray, Nickelback, and Justin Timberlake, who've all been officially sworn in as our new top-ranking royalty, with John Mayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gnarls Barkley, Rascal Flatts and Ludacris holding court right beside them.
A few other acts have tried to stake their claim in that same upper echelon. Blue October climbed up 9 spots on the Alternative Charts, landing at #4. Ok Go, and (+44) both came up 5, and super-cool bands Incubus and Jet have happily graced us with their presence on this week's eTracks.
The Killers and Chingy have paid us a visit to our CHR eTracks, but our top 8 artists have hung out in the exact same spot since last week. They didn't leave for a smoke or anything.
Country group Heartland's done pretty well for itself this week, jumping up 5 spots to numero uno, earning a $350,00 bonus to boot. But out of 20 artists, 12 of them decided to camp out since last time.
The most movement on Hot AC was by Corinne Bailey Rae, who made a 3 spot move to #16...it's like everyone's tired.
Can it be? Oh joy...rapture! Webstar debuted on our Urban eTracks this week, earning a $250,00 bonus, and we can also welcome The Game and Sammie back into our lives.
Oddly enough, as our charts steady, things have been shaking up with the Open League. Last week, our two top labels, Glastonbury 3 and Deadeye Records were separated by a mere 86 bucks, but this time 'round that gap's widened to $1,331. It might be wise to check out their rosters to see what's making and breaking these competing labels.
